Cynthia Erivo is an English actress, producer and singer-songwriter. She rose to fame in 2015 with her Broadway debut as Celie in The Color Purple and won a Tony Award for her performance in 2016. Erivo also received two Oscar nominations in 2020 — one for Best Actress and another for Original Song — both for the period drama Harriet. Her other famous films and TV series include Widows, Bad Times at the El Royale and Genius, celebrating Aretha Franklin's life and legacy. She will star as Elphaba in the upcoming movie adaptation of Wicked.
