Freddie Mercury (né Farrokh Bulsara) was a British singer and songwriter. He rose to worldwide fame as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. Known for his four-octave vocal range, he is widely considered one of the best singers in rock history. Mercury died from complications of AIDS in 1991. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004.
