Sandra Oh Reveals Why She Won't Ever Return to Grey's Anatomy — Even for a Cameo (original) (raw)

"For me, [_Killing Eve_] is my home now," Sandra Oh said

Sandra Oh’s time on Grey’s Anatomy is done for good.

Although Oh, 47, starred on the hit ABC drama as Dr. Cristina Yang for 10 seasons from 2005-14, she won’t be returning to the Shonda Rhimes-created series for a cameo.

During K_illing Eve_ season 2’s Hollywood premiere on Monday evening, Oh told Extra about her reasoning: “You know, I gotta tell you, you guys keep on asking me that question.”

“I just got to tell you, creatively you have moved on and while I know, and I deeply appreciate it, because I can feel it from the fans how much they love Cristina and that the show also still keeps Cristina alive, for me, [_Killing Eve_] is my home now,” she explained about the BBC America series. “This is where I am.”

“I am Eve and that’s where I plan to stay as long as the show will have me,” she told the outlet. “And that’s really where I want to be.”

This isn’t the first time that Oh’s answer has come as a disappointment to Grey’s fans.

In 2017, Oh told Access of potentially returning to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital: “At this point … no, I don’t think so,” she admitted.

She even had a conversation with Rhimes about the option of returning when the series comes to an end in the future. “I just don’t know,” said Oh. “It would have to feel right.”

Although her Grey’s days are over, fans of Oh will be seeing a lot more of the actress when she returns to Killing Eve for season 2 this weekend.

In January, Oh made history as the first Asian performer to win multiple Golden Globes when she took home the prize for best actress in a television drama for her role in Killing Eve at 76th annual award show.

Season 2 of Killing Eve premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
