Looking for a Suggestion of How to Contact People to Meet in Passing Through Bavaria [Apr. 28th, 2012|09:34 am]People to People International
I'm not sure that this is the right place for my post, but I will proceed in sincerity to explore an interest and ask for your insights and suggestions.I'm a 76 year old nephrologist, married to a lovely lady (for 27 wonderful years) and we are exploring my lifelong interest in Porsches by driving from Stuttgart to Lindau to Rottach-Egern, Austria, to Rothenburg, Germany. Our trip through Bavaria takes us by Munich, Augsburg and Heilbronn. We would love to meet Germans with similar interests. We are secular Jews. We do not speak German. My wife is a retired director of an assisted living facility and a very social person. I'm still an active physician and most interested in extending health care to all of America's residents, best summed up as "Single Payer Health Care," but called by its American detractors, "socialized medicine."My first area of exploration was to contact nephrologists along the way by mutual organizations, but they are a very busy group and I've had little (well, none!) interest in exploratory e-mails to physicians who don't know me.My wife and I have found from our experiences on cruises, that much of our enjoyment comes from people we've met and spoken with, often over coffee and pastries or at the dinner table. Hoping that I can replicate this kind of experience, I am posting this note.

Hey travelers! As a fellow People to People alum, I just wanted to share with you all this awesome social networking site called Sosauce.com. Users create profiles and are given different applications like uploading photo’s, interactive map’s that allow you to pinpoint destinations, journal/blogging features. There’s also a guide section, where travelers publish first hand reviews on different places all over the world. The site has a very young and hip layout compared to other sites I've come across. And it’s a great way to keep organized and keep photo’s, travel journal, etc. all together. It’s actually really cool, and it’s something that I wish I had known about before I went on my PeopletoPeople trip a couple years ago.Definitely worth checking out! Enjoy!Maggie

New England Delegation [Aug. 20th, 2009|12:35 pm]People to People International
Is anyone doing the European Discovery program (France, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland) for the summer of 2010 in the New England delegation? I live in the Boston area and am going to the September 19th meeting at 5 pm at MIT, and was wondering if anyone in this community is in this delegation. It costs a little under $7,000 for each person, so I'm already brainstorming some fundraising ideas; if anyone in my delegation would like to take part, you're more than welcome to- just let me know.

Seeking to be a leader [Jan. 19th, 2009|11:25 pm]People to People International
Is anybody in this community a leader? I am an alumni in the program and had a blast going to Australia during high school. I had so much fun in fact, I would like to become a leader. I have looked at the requirements and amazingly enough I have worked full-time at a K-8 school for two years. Can anybody give any advice for undergoing the application process to become a leader? I mostly want to travel for free and hang out with awesome teenagers who want to make good in the world. Any advice helps, especially if you live locally to me in San Francisco, California.
