PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to empirically examine the factors that influence a consumer’... more PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to empirically examine the factors that influence a consumer’s attitude and intention to use mobile wallets using a sample representative of Indian users.Design/methodology/approachA multidisciplinary model is proposed, building on the technology acceptance model (TAM) and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and other relevant research on factors, which influence technology adoption. A synthesis of review of literature on factors influencing technology adoption besides two focus group discussions (FGD) was used as a design a pilot instrument. A nationwide primary survey was conducted using the questionnaire. Convenience sampling was used to select the respondents. This paper aim is to study the mobile wallet and also study customer risk, satisfaction, security and awareness regarding the functionality of mobile wallets. It also explains mobile wallet importance. A structured questionnaire was prepared and data were collected from 260 respondents and factors affecting the adoption and usage of the mobile wallets were analyzed by using appropriate tool. The primary data were collected through structured questionnaire from 256 respondents using Google form. The majority was male (52.3%) and it is found that the majority of respondents are PG and above (87.5%) and the majority of respondents are working private sector (58.6%) Data were processed and analyzed by the Statistical Package for social science. A chi-square test was used to investigate the level of association among variables at the significance level of p<0.05. The finding of the study indicated that the consumer buying behavior fundamentally changed and consumer are spending more money on health and hygiene product, the current crisis affecting the brand preference, shopping behavior and purchasing decision.
