The Philadelphia Museum of Art Library & Archives is committed to connecting all individuals with art information and resources, with a strong emphasis on digital technologies to facilitate that access. We prioritize service that is mutually enriching and beneficial, supporting both staff and the public in their pursuit of knowledge. Our mission is to provide open access to our diverse holdings of library, digital, and archival material that capture and/or supplement the museum’s object collections and institutional history, as well as the individuals who have shaped the world of art.

To fulfill this vision and mission, the Library & Archives carefully collects, assesses, accessions, preserves, and makes accessible heterogeneous materials per national standards and the institution’s collection development, records management, and digital preservation policies.
