Here is another recording from the 1986 European tour, again drawn from a cassette tape from Phil’s personal archive that shows its age although it’s still very listenable. Although it misses the first few seconds of the opening “Above and Below” it otherwise seems to be the complete performance. I remember seeing the quartet version of the band (Phil, Pip, Pete and Fred Baker) at the same venue twelve years later and my memory is of a rather small, pub-sized venue. The applause and cheers here suggest it must have been a full house! Standout moments include the complete “Truly Yours” suite and Pete Lemer’s festive and otherwise unrecorded “Kandoo”.
