In Cahoots New Vortex 2005 (original) (raw)

This was In Cahoots’ first appearance at the Vortex in its new Dalston premises – the club’s previous location had seen the last performance by the Dean/Dvorak line-up in April the previous year. At the time Phil was busy recording Conspiracy Theories using the core InCa quartet with various brass and wind players, most prominently Didier Malherbe, as there was no steady frontline anymore. Trumpeter Simon Finch joined for the Mean Fiddler gig in March 2005 supporting Hatfield and the North, with one-off guest member Theo Travis on saxes and flute. By July, Simon Picard had become the band’s saxophonist, a position he would sustain until 2008. As in March, the evening began with the two new compositions, prefaced by a short Truly Yours intro. To my knowledge, no other pieces from Conspiracy Theories were ever performed live. Instead the rest of the set consists of a selection of material from InCa’s entire back catalogue – a great selection of favourites, and a strong and inspired performance, captured in this ambient recording by yours truly.

Unfortunately, we are yet to fix our download issue, so as before please let me know if you would like the original files. Hopefully by the time of our next post we will have resolved this, possibly with a new media player with built-in download functionality.
