NATIONAL HEALTH Stockholm, Sweden, Mariahissen 27 February 1980
We had posted National Health’s final gig with Alan Gowen in Vänersborg, Sweden, previously, but another recording exists from the 1980 Scandinavian tour, made a few days before in Stockholm. The setlist is identical albeit in a slightly different order and with “Fourfold” added, and this seems to be the complete performance, in a good audience recording. It’s interesting to remember there were plans to record a new album during this period, and with Phil’s “A Fleeting Glance” added to the setlist, there was enough new material in the set for it. In the event, the band went their separate ways after this tour and Phil’s tunes appeared on the “Before A Word Is Said” album by Alan, Phil, Richard Sinclair and Trevor Tomkins, recorded in 1981.
