Inca (original) (raw)

Inca is the informal, shortened name Phil and the rest of the band used for In Cahoots.
The composition titled Inca was written in 2002 after Pip had left the band to form his own group. It was written as an affirmation of the band’s continuation after Pip’s departure. Pip had expressed his opinion that In Cahoots could not exist without him as the drummer. In August that year, In Cahoots was booked to play at the inaugural Progman Cometh festival in Seattle with new drummer Mark Fletcher. It turned out that Pip’s new band Bash was also booked to play at this same festival. Both bands played very well. Steve Feigenbaum from Cuneiform Records was at the festival and offered Phil a record deal on the spot. After the festival In Cahoots returned to London and were soon back in Philip Bagenall’s Eastcote studios recording Inca plus 3 more new compositions by Phil: Black Cat, Sleight of Hand and Out There, plus one piece each by Pete and Fred.
The photograph used at the top of the page was taken outside Eastcote studios. You can see how delighted Phil is with his new drummer Fletch who is making the band laugh by practicing some sexy moves on what he has mistaken for a pole dancing pole.

Inca can be found on the CD** All That ** recorded in January 2003 after Pip Pyle left In Cahoots to form his own band Bash.
