Another sunset picture coming up. This time it is the southern tip of Kerala. To be precise it is near Kovalam beach, close to the city of Trivandrum.
The shot is taken from the southern most end, in fact beyond Kovalam.

Perhaps the most well known beach in Kerala is Kovalam. It is a place with a wonderfully quaint mix of the sea, sun and the sand. Only in winters are the beaches in India amenable to safe swimming. Rest of the year it is too hot and the sea has currents and undertows which for a vast majority of inebriated holiday seekers is sometimes a sad experience.
The Kovalam beach has perhaps the finest cleanest sand with a soft texture. The water is clean and gentle. If you compare it with the other well frequented beach destinations in INdia, it tops out in the pristine beauty front. What one misses perhaps is the anonymity of the Goan beaches where no one gives you a second glance. Here people may just do that. Another thing, the local cuisine takes some time getting used to.
At the southern end of the Kovalam beach is the Vizinjham Light House. A pretty sight on any given day. South of the Light House lies a set of small beaches and the small fishing port town called Vizinjham. In the coming years this place will be a bustling port as new facilities are going to be built to make this a major port.
Right now it is still a unspoilt place. Another late evening view of the sea and the setting sun with some breathtaking thunder clouds floating by the Kovalam beach and the Vizinjham Light House.
