I'm using a downloaded copy of PhotoImpact 12, and I'm having problems with the "Open Recent Files" option.
While "Open Recent Files" is visible when I click File, it is faded out so I can't click on it. I have to go to Browse each time I want to choose a photo I've been working on. The Help section tells how to use Open Recent Files, but not what to do when it isn't a choice.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how to make this feature work?
I am using photo impact pro 11 and I am having a saving problem. All of my pics automatically go from mega bites to kila bites when I save. Doesn't matter what I do to the pic (crop, add filters, or do nothing) it reduces the size. I just opened a 2.5m pic and saved it under a new name (save as) and it saved it as 912k. I am guessing that it is a setting in the program, but I can't find it. Can anyone help?

I've been using PhotoImpact 10 for several years, but it didn't work well with Vista on my new computer, so I purchased Pro 13. One of the features I loved about 10 was the separate GIP Animator, and while 13 is supposed to have the ability to make animated GIFs, I can't figure out how to make it work. Can anyone help?

I just purchased Photo Impact Pro 13.
I've already played with it a bit and got the hang of it.
I need to know how to change the eye color though and also when I'm Extracting an object, how do I keep little pieces of the object I don't want from coming along with the object I do want?

What's your favorite thing about Ulead PhotoImpact This is a touch one, probably the Unsharp Mask and the Styles. *lol*

How long you've been using Ulead PhotoImpact: Hmm, six or seven years now? I migrated over from PSP and never really tried anything after I got into this one. My brief forays into PhotoShop only reinforced my preference for PI. *g*
Favorite thing: I'm a little (okay, a lot) addicted to the diffuse glow effect.

Also, I come bearing a question! I've been cropping screencaps, and I tried to figure out how to use task recording to come up with a way to batch crop my caps, but I just can't get it to work--when it crops, it doesn't crop to the size I need.
Is there a way to batch crop in PI that I'm just missing?

Woohoo!!
After hours of trial and error, mix and match, cursing, hair-pulling and general icon-related grumpiness....I have finally figured out a solution for the "color burn" blend mode option found in other image editing progams. It's not as simple as, say, clicking a drop down menu and selecting "color burn," but it works! At least it has so far. XD
And sorry about the double-post, but it's related to my last one, anyway. XD We need more active members! :o

Now all that's left for me to figure out is how best to mimic an "adjustment layer" in PI. x.X I think that one may actually be near impossible. :( I am slowly learning how to use some of the similar tools (Color Balance, Color Adjustment, etc), but I only know how to apply them to the active object, not the whole set of objects in the image
I read somewhere that the adjustment layer is like a "lens" that filters over the whole set of layers beneath, but since PI is object-based, I don't really believe there's anything comparable. :/ If I'm missing something, though, I'd gladly be corrected! :)

So...this is a long shot, because we've been so quiet lately, but it's worth trying. :]
I've spent most of my afternoon browsing tutorials and practicing my google-fu while testing things/making icons in PhotoImpact. I am quite thrilled to say while looking at a tutorial for something in GIMP, I've found a way to get an approximation of the "exclusion" blend mode in PhotoImpact (when using a color layer, at least - it involves 3 copies of the color with the layers set to inverse multiply, inverse multiply and difference, for those who want to know - I have no idea if this will also work with actual pictures yet).
Unfortunately, while I've partially solved one mystery, I'm left with some new questions. Someone asked before about the burning options, and now I see what they meant.
Does anyone know what the equivalent to "color burn" and "color dodge" might be in PI? I know what "linear" burn and dodge are equivalent to, but not the color ones. Any version will work, and I'm fine with multiple steps if it means I get the same effect. For now, for the tutorial I was following, since the image involved was a B&W, I just set it to multiply and the final version looks similar...but I don't know how this will work in general (since there's actually a multiply option).
Another question I have is about a "channel mixer" and if there's any relative equivalent in PI. It seems to be a way to control the levels of RG&B (with 3 values). I tried playing with the tone map, color adjuster and highlight/midtone/shadow, but I haven't figured out how to make it work right if any of those could do it.
So there. Those are my questions (for now ;). Hopefully someone still watches this community. o.O
And if you are watching - obviously the challenges never took off, so do you have any suggestions for something you'd like to see on this community? What, if anything, can we do to make us a little more active?
