Lil B Drops DOOM-Inspired Mixtape (original) (raw)

Lil B and DOOM are both prolific weirdo rappers with cult internet fanbases and tendencies to go nuts free-associating. So maybe it's not that surpising that Lil B revealed his DOOM fandom, but it's pretty notable that B revealed that fandom in seriously dramatic fashion.

Yesterday, Lil B released a new mixtape of Based Freestyles-- the rambling, deeply strange freeforms that helped the Based God set himself apart from his contemporaries. The new tape is called MF BASED, and according to B himself, it's "a dedication to MF DOOM."

You can download the mixtape right now from Lil B's Based World blog. It features B rapping over a ton of dusty East Coast boom-bap tracks, so it's musically pretty different from the synthy, diffuse lo-fi rap beats he usually favors. And it includes B's takes on a few DOOM tracks, as well as a healthy number of DOOM shoutouts. Also: Pretty incredible cover art! Check it out here.
