Nowe źródła, akademickie i praktyczne, dają wiarygodne informacje do wstępnych, holistycznych ocen scenariuszy upraw w różnych kontekstach miasta.

Each building has a different history so the scope of renovation and/or retrofitting must be determined individually for each building. This article presents the methodology of measurement and diagnosis of features of particular importance for energy performance and comfort improvements, based on the example of a historic masonry building located in southern Poland. The first research question was which of the comfort conditions have been exceeded according to measurements. The second issue concerned the necessary extension of the basic determinants of comfort, beyond measurable qualities. A multi-faceted approach to the comfort assessment is proposed, including qualitative research that applies the additional criterion of aesthetic comfort. During the case study dia...

Proper application of those methods allows to attain full social participation, to facilitate the decision-making process, as well as to resolve potential conflicts with building of confidence in democratic procedures and institutions.

EN: Private investments have a significant impact on the cityscape and in times of a spatial planning crisis, that impact is often destructive. The more it is worth promoting the actions taken by private investors and developers who engage wisely in greenery. Green infrastructure permeates ownership divisions, so it needs to be financed from both public and private funds. Conscious and responsible private investors are valuable partners for public authorities and non-governmental organizations striving for the presence and quality of greenery in the city.

Tischnera i 4) wylot planowanej ulicy w obszarze MPZP Wadowicka-Tischnera. Wstępnie uzgodniono partnerski model planowania i finansowania inwestycji. Słowa kluczowe: Bonarka, kolej metropolitalna, Metropolia Krakowska, obszar funkcjonalny, partycypacja, warsztaty, węzeł intermodalny, ZIT

The study concerns Kraków, whose policy has been compared with other cities and metropolises and was analysed in a timespan of about 30 years. It was hypothesised that, until recently, RES were treated in the city with reserve concerning their feasibility in local environmental and economic conditions, but since RES have been appreciated as a viable means to effectively combat low-stack emissions, the local air quality targets have been integrated with global decarbonisation goals. This launched a dedicated subsidy stream for RES installations and contributed to the sharp increase in the number of installations. Trend analysis techniques have been used to study environmental indicators in relation to the evolution of municipal policies, the expenditures, and their effects. The review confirms that the implementation of RES had not been a pr...

What is important for the quality of life, as much as for the development opportunities, is the presence and quality of green spaces, penetrating and permeating the urban structures as a blood circulation system. The co-existence of two key elements of urban composition: urban interiors and arranged green areas, which should create internally diverse but continuous a system, is presently the main object of study under the Project called "Sustainable Development of Borough VIII in Kraków: Landscape Aspects." This paper presents the assumptions and the implementation of that Project, carried out by the Landscape Architecture Design Section (A-86) of the Landscape Architecture Institute (A-8), Faculty of Architecture of the Kraków University of Technology, by the team supervised by Prof. W....

In each case, the application of placemaking methods encouraged public participation, showed the potential to facilitate the decision-making process, and helped resolve potential or existing conflicts while building confidence in democratic procedures and institutions. This research highlights the importance of the PPS method which helped to build a team of stakeholders sharing similar views, ones convinced that a positive change is possible and are ready to cooperate. Such attitudes are especially valuable in places where local democracy and participatory urban management is undeveloped.

Its practices have created a growing body of knowledge of the design strategies and physical elements that make vital public spaces and successful development projects. However, without proper consideration of local history and heritage, such practices might not leave room for character and distinctive beauty. The result can be places that are again more a manifestation of planning principles and generalised design strategies than integrating urban cultures and communities. Without inclusion of the attributes that people want to preserve, adapt, rehabilitate, or even reconstruct, public space may present a missed opportunity to produce specific, beautiful places. Careful approaches to existing structures provide a sense of continuity, comprehensibility, meaningfulness, and coherence – the values of importance beyond ae...
