📢 Did you know that in 2022, as much as 𝟏.𝟎𝟓 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟏𝟗% 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝? On September 29, we celebrated the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞. According to Eurostat, 54% of food waste occurs in households. One of our partners, the Bank Żywności w Olsztynie (Food Bank), has been actively working to combat food waste for years, rescuing food and supporting those in need. “Our mission is not only to save food but also to educate society about responsible consumption,” says Aneta Janikowska, Director of Education at #FoodBankTogether, we organized the “Shop&Cook” workshops, which were part of a two-day event under our international project SUCCESS (Supermarkets and Consumers Collaborate Towards Easy Sustainable Strategies: https://lnkd.in/eqay357F). These workshops taught participants how to plan purchases and prepare meals sustainably. “Participants focus on reducing meat consumption, increasing legumes, and minimizing food waste for a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle,” adds Michalina Jakubowska. 📸 We’re excited to share photos from these workshops, where participants put theory into practice! 🌍 You too can become our partner! At #EITFood, we believe strong communities are key to transforming the food system. Our partnership model offers opportunities to contribute to: 🔹 Healthier lives through food 🔹A net zero food system 🔹A fair and resilient food system 📣 Want to join us? 📢For the next few months, STREAM IT will be unveiling inspiring stories of educators, women in STEM and others who have been empowering girls and women to pursue their careers in STEM fields, through its campaign "𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻". This week we are shining spotlights 🌟𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀🌟 🎯Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the careers of women in #STEM, often serving as the first source of encouragement and #inspiration. By fostering a supportive environment, teachers can #empowergirls to pursue fields like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Early mentorship and positive reinforcement from educators help build confidence, showing young women that they belong in STEM. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗮 is currently doing a PhD in #synthetic #biology, and works on: 🔹the design of new antibacterial agents, 🔹the design of biosensors with applications in medicine and the environment, 🔹general systems to control genetic expression. As she stated, her interest towards subjects like genetics and biotechnology was sparked by the professors, who were committed to finding the right approaches to motivate their students. 👏Let’s give a round of applause to all those teachers out there who are inspiring the next generation of women! #teachermatters #inspirewomen #empowerfuturegenerations #girlsinSTEM #STEMeducation #endstereotypes #genderequality #inclusion -
