These adventurers, whether they be diplomats, writers, surveyors or of another profession, eventually contract their artists or photographers to document their findings and advertise the knowledge to be gained, the experiences to be had and the cultures to be witnessed at their newly discovered destination (see Osborne, 2000; Castleberry, 2003).
