Poetic Ramblings (original) (raw)

And so I have a few words of advice.

If you are a bird and you were made to fly...then soar as high and as light as your wings will carry you, and never let your feathers touch the ground--for the moment that your feet perch upon the earth, it will certainly be your doom.

And if you are a fish, and you are gifted with fins and gills to breathe underwater...then swim as deep and as graciously as your flippers will allow, shimmering brilliantly beneath the waves--and do not come near the surface, where scary monsters with their hooks, claws, and nets await to devour you. For if you are caught in the grasp of these beasts, you are sure to be doomed.

And if you are whatever it is that you are, and whatever you were made to be...then BE THAT WHICH YOU ARE, to the best of your ability, and never, ever, allow anyone or thing stop you from that gift that you were given from birth--for the moment that you concede that gift to another whom does not deserve it because it is not their gift, but yours and yours alone as The Creator has designed--your wings will be clipped, your fins will be snipped, and you will mourn the loss of your gift as if mourning life itself. At that moment you will understand the pain of looking at the sky and never being able to fly, and looking into the deep sapphire blue of the ocean's hue, and never being able to glide and swim again with your marvelous fins.

Guard your gift and guard your heart, because once these precious things are lost, your very spirit will be broken apart.
