The volume intends to extensively document the impressive activities carried out by the archaeologists and architects who, often closely, worked in that period. The regime paid a special attention to archeology and architecture, cause of their relevant propagandistic features, involving renowned professionals and frequently reaching outstanding results. Therefore, besides the establishment of big cities regulated by the new urban planning schemes and the imposing infrastructures that radically changed the image of the nation, archaeology tried to justify the Italian presence by reconstructing common origins, ultimately rooted on cultural models provided by Rome.

The projects have been organised with the synergy of many disciplines such as interior design, museology and museography, and thanks to the cooperation among Italian and foreigners universities, the Italian “Soprintendenza ai Beni Archeologici” and some important Albanian institutions committed to the enhancement of the local archaeological heritage. Aim of this new educational approach is to elaborate a specific methodology in order to achieve a proper and effective procedure in setting up an archaeological museum. This experience has proved an important way to educate students and, at the same time, it might contribute to a better spreading of archaeological heritage.

The latter is qualified by ancient sources as a cultural and civic hero, promoter of the social values, of the laws and of the behavioural patterns of the Greek polis, but also as a traveller and explorer, a conqueror of new territories and a founder of novel settlements, rituals and agonistic competitions and an enemy of monstrous creatures, symbolizing the denial of the organised Hellenic society. As such, he became a reference model for tyrants, kings and emperors, who implemented propaganda strategies making an extended use of the figure of Herakles on public and religious monuments, noticeably on their pertaining sculptural decorations, and exploiting also other forms or arts such as sculpture and painting, that had in turn a relevant impact on pottery ornamentation, too.
The papers tries to diachronically investigate the use of the images focused on Herakles by state leaders as a tool to create political consensus and strengthen their power.

a series of sculptures dating from the Archaic to the Hellenistic period, other sites such as Satyrion and Heraclea yielded relatively few marble works, although typologically interesting.
After reexamining the evidence, the author concludes that during the Archaic and Classical periods, marble was used almost exclusively for public monuments such as cult statues and architectonic sculptures. During the Hellenistic period, however, private commission became more important, especially in the case of Taranto with its rich funerary sculpture. As can be demonstrated, both local and foreign workshops are attested.

A multidisciplinary Laboratory Degree carried out at the Faculty of Architecture of Bari during the a.y. 2012-2013, examined the original features, the transformations over time, and the potentiality of the Palace. The Laboratory developed a project of architectural requalification, partial re-functioning and expansion of this building, strengthening the cultural vocation and thereby contributing indirectly to the enhancement of the urban context.
In particular, the Laboratory studied the existing Archaeological Museum, proposing a renewed ordering of the archaeological finds, and elaborated a project of enhancing the interior spaces, rationalization of the exhibition itinerary and renovation of the exhibition systems.
It also developed a hypothesis of restruction in order to accommodate cultural activities annexed to the museum.
The expansion of the museum has grown at the level of the basement of the building, with volumes not visible on the outside, preserving the original features of the architectural form. The possibility of requalification of the Palace of GLA as a museum center fits into the framework of the development of the museum network, of which the Museum of Tirana could be a fulcrum able to offer a summary of the archaeological heritage of Albania.

The ritual collective meal is a widespread practiced aspect in the Greek background and its study concerns not just the exam of ritual practices, in the strict sense of the word, but also architectural structures, intended for the consumption, which were situated within the sanctuaries. In Magna Graecia this tradition finds significant examples, although in different chronological periods, in the extra-urban sanctuary of Aphrodite in Locri, (the so-called “U-shaped Stoà”, in the area of Centocamere, datable around the 6th century) as well as in the sanctuary of Hera Lacinia in Capo Colonna of Crotone (the so-called “H-building", which dates back to the Hellenistic age). Starting from the examination of these two contexts, the study presents an outline of the documentation pertinent to the ritual meal tradition in Magno-Greek ambits, in order to propose a summing up of the data we have been gathering so far, which might sketch out evidences, reception modalities and possible developments of such a worship-practice in the Greek west.

Edificio H, databile in età ellenistica).
