Sosuke Esumi (江角 走輔, Esumi Sōsuke) is Go-On Red (ゴーオンレッド, Gōon Reddo) of the Go-Ongers. Nicknamed the "Speed King," was formerly a race car driver training under Tojiro Fuji.
History[]
Go-Onger[]
Possessing a sunny disposition, he was referred to by his racing team as "Miracle Esumi" for his belief in miracles. Unyielding to the point of obstinance and always full of confidence, he confronts all obstacles without hesitation. He is often seen flipping a Go-Onger coin for good luck. When Engine Speedor becomes rusted, Sosuke crosses paths with his former mentor, who aids him by reminding him that a miracle takes more than one person to make by himself. He is very protective of his teammates; when Saki Royama expresses that she wants to be pretty for a boyfriend who will appreciate her and makes a date with a young musician not long after, Sosuke worries that she intends to leave the team to get married.

Encountering the Gekiranger, the Go-Ongers lose the Engine Souls to the Gaiark and Meka. With Jan Kandou's help, Sosuke manages to gain Geki. With Engine-Ken, a new type of Geki fighting fist, he was able to access his beast spirit (which turned out to be Speedor). With this he performs GekiSpeedor Saber Straight (with Road Saber) and the Doru Doru Dan (with the Mantan Gun).

Sosuke is thought to secretly like Miu Suto. While under the influence of a Banki Clan Gaiark energy drink, he gives her a ring. TV STORY-GP 30: Punch of Friendship However, when the other Go-Ongers subtly tell Sosuke that Miu is attracted to helpless men and that Sosuke is one of them, he is shocked to hear this. TV STORY-GP 42: Campus Secret After the final battle, Sosuke returns to racing, but because of his long absence from the racing circuit, he has to start from the bottom as a go-kart driver. After transforming into Go-On Red, Sosuke says, "Mach Full Force!! Go-On Red" (マッハ全開！！ゴーオンレッド, Mahha Zenkai!! Gōon Reddo). Sosuke and Speedor say, "The Burning Crimson Speed Kings!! We are the Go-On Mach Team" (真っ赤に燃えるスピードキング！！俺達ゴーオンマッハ組, Makka ni Moeru Supīdo Kingu!! Ore-tachi Gōon Mahha-gumi).

Over a year later, Sosuke fought alongside not only his own team, but every single Sentai Ranger in existence, against the Empire of Zangyack when it attacked the Earth in the Great Legend War. After fighting against hundreds of Gormin and their Sugormin commanders, Akarenger noticed the fleet moving towards them. He gathered all the Rangers together and gave them the order to sacrifice their powers to wipe out the first invasion's armada. Machalcon[]
Sosuke returned in Gokaiger to assist the Gokaigers when BOMPER requests to be taken to him after appearing on the Gokai Galleon. After he is told of the situation in the Gunman World, and the Gokaigers refuse to help, Sosuke dons on his Go-Onger uniform for one last time. Using a trampoline and pole, Sosuke tried to get through the dimensional portal that leads there by himself, to no avail, until the Gokaigers changed their minds and let him go aboard the Gokai Galleon. Despite having lost his powers as Go-On Red, Sosuke still manages to hold his own against a troop of Ugatz. During this situation, he finds out his partner, Engine Speedor and Engine BearRV had gotten married and was surprised to find out that they also had a son. However, even though the crisis in the Gunman World had been averted with Barbaric Officer Chirakashizky's defeat, there was still Pollution President Babatcheed to deal with but, since he closed off the portal back to the Human World and the available Engines had not enough power to break through, they had to head to Machine World to convince Speedor and Bear RV's son, Machalcon, to help them. Despite Sosuke's emotional pleas, Machalcon refused to stop and was only tamed when GokaiOh (without its legs) forced itself on him. After having helped the Gokaigers fully conquer the Go-Onger's Greater Power (previously conceded to them by Saki) and defeat Babatcheed, Sosuke parts ways with the pirates, going back to being an auto racer. Go-On Red appears as the "Onger Representative" (オンジャー代表, Onjā Daihyō) in the Super Hero Taihen
net movie The Grown-ups’ Narumi Detective Agency Ep. 2: What’s a “Kaiger”?, which exposes the shortening on the term "Ranger" in recent Sentai series.
He also appears in the net movie Super Sentai Murder Mystery! You’re the Great Detective!, holding Kamen Rider Decade's Rider Cards as one of several Rangers and Riders holding Kamen Rider and Super Sentai merchandise respectively, when the Go-Busters explain to the net movie director and murder culprit Hiroyuki Kato that all of Super Sentai love Riders and vice versa.
Super Hero Taisen[]
The Go-Ongers, alongside the Gekirangers, Gorengers (bar Akarenger), Goseigers, and Shinkengers, emerge through a dimensional wall.
Sosuke, alongside his team (the Go-On Wings were absent), among the majority of the Super Sentai heroes, was caught up in the "Super Hero Taisen" incident which eventually resulted in the Super Sentai teams and Kamen Riders joining forces to defeat both Dai-Zangyack and Dai-Shocker. During the final battle, he is seen in the background fighting Go·Jaaza·Gi. He and the other Go-Ongers later teamed up with Kamen Rider Kiva to destroy each otherss past enemies. Go-On Red appeared as part of a conference of the first 38 Reds led by Red Falcon, whom addressed the Ninningers and Zyuohgers as the greater Super Sentai pantheon intervened to save them from defeat at the hands of the titanic Gillmarda. Empowering the Combination Nin Shuriken to form Wild Tousai Shuriken King, the first 38 Super Sentai further imbued their successors with the power to perform the Zyuoh Ninnin Super Sentai Burst, destroying Gillmarda with the combined power of all 40 Super Sentai. Super Sentai Strongest Battle[]
Sosuke joined the Super Sentai Strongest Battle as a member of Vehicle Team. In the second round, Sosuke and Bouken Silver fought AkaNinger and Sasori Orange of Oddball Team. Although his duo was having the upper hand in the fight, Sosuke and Eiji accidentally crashed into each other and were knocked out of transformation. While they were busy arguing, Oddball Team was able to grab the gem and win the battle. Disappointed, Sosuke told his successors to continue to race down the road of justice, before disappearing. Though he was seemingly erased alongside his team as a result of Asmodeus’ manipulations, he and, presumably, his corresponding team were restored back into existence once Touma Kamiyama had helped Shotaro regained his passion in drawing out the superheroes that he wants to draw out.
During the climatic final battle itself, he can be seen fighting alongside Red Racer, Kamen Rider Drive and Kamen Rider Sabela.
Boonboomger[]
Sosuke met Jyo Akuse when he brought a lost child to him, in order to help the child find his mother. Sosuke quickly found the child's mother and reunited them, before Jou was called away to assist the other Boonboomgers, who, at the time, were working to help the Engine Speedor reunite with Sosuke. Sosuke transformed into Go-On Red, and fought with the Boonboomgers to defeat the Kurumaju Geta Grumer.
Once the Kurumaju had been defeated, Sosuke left with Speedor and the other Engines to attend the wedding of Engine Machalcon in Machine World. TV STORY-Bakuage 12: Explosive Engine

Bun Red forms a “no entry” street symbol with the Boonboom Handle in Rod Mode. Then Bun Red, Bun Blue, Bun Pink, Bun Black and Bun Orange deliver energy attacks as Go-On Red shoots out Speedor from the Mantan Gun. The energy attacks combine with Speedor as the mecha drives though the opponent with Bun Red using Handle Mode to steer it back to finish the Kurumaju, hitting the Kurumaju on the symbol.

Portrayal[]
- Sosuke Esumi is portrayed by Yasuhisa Furuhara (古原 靖久, Furuhara Yasuhisa). As a child, he is portrayed by Hiroto Terui (照井 宙斗, Terui Hiroto). In Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen, Go-On Red's voice was provided by Junya Ikeda (池田 純矢, Ikeda Jun'ya), who plays Gai Ikari/Gokai Silver in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
- As Go-On Red, his suit actor was Hirofumi Fukuzawa (福沢 博文, Fukuzawa Hirofumi), who previously suit acted GekiRed. In Engine Sentai Go-Onger: 10 Years Grand Prix, he was portrayed by Shinsuke Kusano (草野 伸介, Kusano Shinsuke).
- In the video game Super Sentai Battle: Ranger Cross, Go-On Red was voiced by Kenji Akabane (赤羽 根健治, Akabane Kenji).
- In the Korean dub of Go-Onger entitled Power Rangers Engine Force, which aired in South Korea, Sosuke is renamed "Mach", while his designation is "Engine Red".
Design[]
- As a civilian Go-Onger, Sosuke wears a black racer jacket with some red accents. The jacket bears designs of many logos on the front and back.
- As Go-On Red, he sports a red spandex with the chest bearing a golden number "1" that resembles a condor with white wings. He also wears white gloves and red boots. His black belt is connected with the silver V-buckle worn on the shoulders. His helmet resembles the front view of Engine Speedor.

The Go-On Red Ranger Key.
The Go-On Red Ranger Key (ゴーオンレッドレンジャーキー, Gōon Reddo Renjā Kī) is Sosuke Esumi's personal Ranger Key and what became of his powers after he along with the rest of the 34 Super Sentai sacrificed their powers to end the Great Legend War.
This key along with the majority of the Ranger Keys were collected by the Red Pirates and later used by the Gokaigers. The Go-On Red Ranger Key was mainly used by Captain Marvelous (Gokai Red), who used it to fight as Go-On Red. It was also used by Gai Ikari on two occasions.
After Zangyack were finally defeated, the Gokaigers gave the Ranger Keys back to their rightful owners. It is presumed that Sosuke received his key and became Go-On Red once more.

Go-Onger Zyudenchi
The Super Sentai Zyudenchi (スーパー戦隊獣電池, Sūpā Sentai, Super Squadron Beast Batteries), alternatively named Legend Sentai Zyudenchi (レジェンド戦隊獣電池, Rejendo Sentai Jūdenchi, Legend Squadron Beast Batteries) in the toyline, are a special line of Zyudenchi that contain the likeness of the Sentai teams before Kyoryuger (represented by the main Reds). These Zyudenchi are in the same fashion as the "Legend Rider" lines of Collectible Devices in the Kamen Rider Series.
A Go-Onger Zyudenchi which bears the likeness of Go-On Red is part of the Legend Sentai Zyudenchi toyline which can be used in Super Sentai Battle: Dice-O.

The Legend Sentai Ressha (レジェンド戦隊レッシャー, Rejendo Sentai Ressha) are Ressha based on the mecha, specifically those belonging to the Red heroes, of the ToQgers' predeceeding Super Sentai teams. They can form a unique combination of ToQ-Oh reminiscent of past Sentai Robos by switching with Red Ressha. The ToQ Changer toy is shown to have sounds for Legend Ressha of all 37 previous Sentai.
The Go-Onger Ressha (ゴーオンジャーレッシャー, Gōonjā Ressha) - The Ressha associated with the Go-Ongers, based off of Go-On Red's Engine Speedor; when replacing Red Ressha in ToQ-Oh, it forms ToQ-Oh Engine-O. Also appears as an SG Ressha.

The Go-Onger Gear (ゴーオンジャーギア, Gōonjā Gia) is one of many Sentai Gears used by the Zenkaigers to battle the Kikaitopia Dynasty Tojitendo. In particular, when it's used by Twokaizer's Geardalinger, it grants his and another's weapons the Mission Six state of the Rocket Daggers, granting flight while being able to attack.

- He is the the first Sentai Hero who has used a power-up mode from a different Sentai team.
- He is the only male Go-Onger to appear in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
- Sosuke is often known for his heavily styled, anime-like hair, which Furuhara cites was inspired by both the Super Saiyans from Dragon Ball Z and Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII.[3][4] In later appearances, his hairstyle steadily began to simplify, and by the time of 10 Years Grand Prix has relaxed into a normal hairstyle. The hairstyle made a return in his appearance in Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger, this time in red, evoking Goku's Super Saiyan God form from Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.
- Sosuke has the record for the most amount of engine partners, with a total of four.

Go-On Red appeared with Shinken Red and Gosei Red in the stage show Akibaranger Episode 14 to grant the Inordinate Power of their teams to the Akibarangers. The Go-Ongers' Inordinate Power turned him into a Checker Flag.
