Yuki Yamada (山田 裕貴, Yamada Yūki) is a Japanese actor who portrayed Joe Gibken/Gokai Blue in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, with his most recent reprisal of the character in the 2021 film Kaizoku Sentai: Ten Gokaiger.
Biography[]
After graduating from high school, Yamada applied to Watanabe Entertainment in the hopes of being an actor. Although he did not win the auditions, he ranked high enough and joined the D-Boys, D2 division of Watanabe Entertainment, and made his acting debut in Gokaiger.
Since the end of Gokaiger, Yamada has had a successful acting career, having starred in multiple dramas and films since, which includes, High & Low, Strobe Edge, and Tokyo Revengers.
In 2022, he voiced Eboshi in One Piece Film: Red.
In 2023, he played Shirō Mizushima in Godzilla Minus One.
Personal Life[]
- Yamada was cast as Joe because producer Takaaki Utsumi felt that Yamada's aura was very similar to Joe.[1][2]
- Yamada originally was not satisfied with his early performance in Gokaiger. However after the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake, his confidence shot up after he received a letter from a young fan who wanted to be Gokai Blue when they grew up.[3]
