This study revealed that, 35.45% of the users seek information from the newspapers, followed by 37.27 % of the users use the General Knowledge Books in the library.52.73% of the users are good about the library facilities and 61.82% of the users are satisfied with reference services available in the library. Therefore the study proves the students and public are utilizing the public libraries for their career opportunities.

This study reveals that, 66.67 percentage of colleges take stock verification through separate library committee from outside, 58.33 percentage of colleges take stock verification for the purpose checking the availability of books. 33.33 percentage of colleges lost 50 to 100 books at the time of stock verification,58.33 percentage of colleges take responsibility for the loss of books by the college management, 58.33 percentage of the colleges measure the loss through 3 percentages of total circulation of books in the library

This study was undertaken to determine the usefulness of sources used by student teachers for inf... more This study was undertaken to determine the usefulness of sources used by student teachers for information retrieval, purpose of retrieving the information and factors affecting the information retrieval in college of education at Tirunelveli district. Questionnaire was used to collect the required data. The sample consists of 150 students randomly selected from 3 colleges. 140 duly filled-in questionnaires were included for analysis. The findings of the study reveal that: The majority of student educators are females, having hailed from urban areas, studying as day scholars, belonging to arts faculty, with the background of under graduation doing B.Ed in aided colleges of Education; Dictionaries are found to be very useful among the student educators (115) followed by Internet (111), discussion with colleagues (94), newspapers (91) and textbooks (90). Electronic resources are the vibrant tool for the higher education and research in all subjects i... more Electronic resources are the vibrant tool for the higher education and research in all subjects including the Engineering discipline. The Number of e-resources packages are available in all the approved Engineering Colleges for references. This article deals with the utilization of e-resources among the faculty and students of Engineering Colleges in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Survey method questionnaire tool is adopted together with the data for the study. Among the 90 respondents, 55.56 percent of students and 44.46 percent of faculty members are assessing e-resources in the respective colleges. It is included that 22 (55.00%) E-journals are used by faculty and 20 (40.00%) are used by students.

To assess the growth of journal in the mentioned period, pattern of number of articles published, number of authors contribution, number of studies related to the geographic jurisdiction , number of pages contribution , number of references cited in the articles, designation wise authors contribution, and topics covered in the journal. Maximum number of articles (31) published in the year 2006. 60.76% of the articles (161 articles) are contributed by double authors. 71.94% of the authors from colleges and universities.83.39% of the articles (221) ate state level studies.15.85% of the articles (42) covered the areas of teaching skills.

Internet is the most important tool for our day-to-day life. But some rural areas are not connect... more Internet is the most important tool for our day-to-day life. But some rural areas are not connected by internet, so that people are not able to access the internet. Many arts and science colleges have internet facilities. This survey mainly focuses on the rural area students' awareness and usage of internet in Libraries with special reference to St.John's College, Palayamkottai. The results show that, 77.06 % students are accessing the internet from cyber cafe, 45.87 % of the students are accessing the internet weekly, 78.89 % of the students are sharing the information with friends, 36.69 % of the students are using the whatsapp social media, and 27.52 % of the students are using the internet for study-related work. This study concludes that government and telecommunication companies must improve the internet facility in the rural areas and colleges should install sufficient computers for accessing the internet the welfare of the students.

In the past few years evaluation of publications in peer reviewed journals and analysis of resear... more In the past few years evaluation of publications in peer reviewed journals and analysis of research productivity of the faculty members in various Institutions through scientometrics studies and bibliometric studies for identifying the quality researchers in the field of research and development. This study focused on the research productivity of the faculty members working at St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli from 1975 to 2019. The data were collected from the Scopus database from 1975 to 2019. After the analysis of the 693 publications in the above mentioned period, published through 273 sources, 1.53 collaboration index, and 92 articles published in the year 2012 is the highest publication of the year.

A questionnaire was distributed to the end- users to collect the data. The distribution was done to the selected samples; collect the sound samples. The study aims to find the awareness about the availability of e-resources. The result as reveal what type of e-resources preferred, what searching engine was used most, problem faced during accessing the e-resources, ranking of the available e-resources and to find the percentage of received e-resources from library services. The analysis also reveals few other data which should help to improve the library services.

The investigator conducted the random sampling method and prepared the self-made questionnaire for collected the responses from the sample consists of 270 prospective teachers. 264 duly filled-in responses were analyzed. The investigator conducted the random sampling method and prepared the self-made questionnaire for collected the responses from the sample consists of 270 prospective teachers. 264 duly filled-in responses were analyzed. This information is available in various forms like e-books, e-journal, e-learning tutors, etc. The study aimed at finding the awareness and utilization of e-resources by the junior research fellows Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore. A questionnaire was distributed to the end-users to collect the data. The distribution was done to the selected samples; collect the sound samples. The study aims to find the awareness about the availability of e-resources. The result as reveal what type of e-resources preferred, what searching engine was used most, problem faced during accessing the e-resources, ranking of the available e-resources and to find the percentage of received e-resources from library services. The analysis also reveals few other data which should help to improve the library services.

The investigator conducted the random sampling method and prepared the self-made questionnaire for collected the responses from the sample consists of 165 under graduate engineering students. 150 duly filled-in responses were analyzed. The findings of the study revealed that, 72.7 % (109) of the undergraduate engineering students were found at moderate level in awareness and usage of social media applications on information sources, followed by 74.3 % (55) of the female undergraduate engineering students, 74.1 % (20) of the Muslim undergraduate engineering students, and 82.4 % (14) of the hostel undergraduate engineering students were found at the moderate level among the awareness and usage of social media applications on information sources at a moderate level. There is no significant difference between (i) male and female (ii) rural and urban (iii) day scholar and hosteller iv) Hindu, Muslim, and Christian v) Computer Science Engineering/ Information Technology subject undergraduate engineering students and other subjects undergraduate engineering students among awareness and usage of social media applications on information sources.
