In addition to adversely impacting non-COVID health care utilization, the pandemic has resulted in a deep global economic contraction due to lockdown policies and declining demand and supply of goods and services. As a result, most countries are experiencing lower levels of gross domestic product (GDP), rising unemployment, higher levels of impoverishment, and increasing income inequality. Some countries are more vulnerable to the economic contagion resulting from COVID-19, including those implementing more stringent lockdowns and those that are more globally integrated due to their dependence on trade, tourism, and remittances. In addition, countries with pre-existing conditions of fiscal weakness due to higher dependence on external grant financing, low tax revenues, and large pre-crisis debt levels are struggling to implement countercyclical mitigative fiscal and monetary polici...

This article reviews the evolving enforcement of the law and recommends a set of managerial actions to reduce corporate liability and improve governance practices.

Initiated and supervised by the instructor, conducted and completed by the students, the research project enables students working collaboratively to apply their statistical skills to understand how international business knowledge is created and evaluated. A prototype research project is presented to illustrate this approach. Pedagogical implications are discussed in terms of course rigor, effective use of classroom time, and applicability in other settings.

Ten learning outcomes were defined and a survey instrument was used to obtain student responses. Pretest and posttest scores of the questionnaire for the two treatment groups and the control group were analyzed to determine the extent of student learning about the subject. Statistical analysis indicates that the game is at least as effective as a conventional lecture yet involves the students to a far greater degree in the learning process.

The principal conclusions are that the nationality of a firm is not a significant factor influencing election outcomes and that foreign firms are as difficult to unionize as domestic American firms. Several reasons are offered to explain these findings.

Countries have, therefore, been asked to report outbreaks of the virus and to stay the World Health Organization conversant of any measures being taken.
The World Health Organization has the facility to create non-binding recommendations on however countries will with success contain the virus, and this will embody recommendation regarding trade. To date, however, the World Health Organization has ne'er advocated the introduction of trade barriers and has overtly questioned the effectiveness of such measures. PHEIC measures escort the categorical caveat that they ought to not be used as a reason to, via trade restrictions or alternative suggests that, economically stigmatize a nation.

Some Essential Economic Theories and their Practicable Applications For monopolies, marginal cost... more Some Essential Economic Theories and their Practicable Applications For monopolies, marginal cost curves are upward sloping and marginal revenues are downward sloping. Analyze how marginal and marginal costs affect a company's production decision Firm typically have marginal costs that are low at low levels of production but that increase at higher levels of production. While competitive firms experience marginal revenue that is equal to price-represented graphically by a horizontal line-monopolies have downward-sloping marginal revenue curves that are different than the good's price. For monopolies, marginal revenue is always less than price. TERMS marginal cost The increase in cost that accompanies a unit increase in output; the partial derivative of the cost function with respect to output. Additional cost associated with producing one more unit of output. marginal revenue The additional profit that will be generated by increasing product sales by one unit. Profit Maximization In traditional economics, the goal of a firm is to maximize their profits. This means they want to maximize the difference between their earnings, i.e. revenue, and their spending, i.e. costs. To find the profit maximizing point, firms look at marginal revenue (MR)-the total additional revenue from selling one additional unit of output-and the marginal cost (MC)-the total additional cost of producing one additional unit of output. When the marginal revenue of selling a good is greater than the marginal cost of producing it, firms are making a profit on that product. This leads directly into the marginal decision rule, which dictates that a given good should continue to be produced if the marginal revenue of one unit is greater than its marginal cost. Therefore, the maximizing solution involves setting marginal revenue equal to marginal cost.

The goods marked for tariffs will now face a punishing 25 percent border tax when they will be imported into the US. It is done to penalise China by making Chinese products more expensive for American consumers and businesses to buy. If Chinese products suddenly become more costly, they’ll buy those same products from somewhere else, and Chinese businesses will lose money in the market. China immediately accused the US of starting “the largest trade war in economic history to date” and responded by imposing 25 percent tariffs on $34 billion worth of US goods, including soybeans, automobiles, and lobsters.
