Updates to our Privacy Policy (original) (raw)

At Anthropic, we regularly review and update our Privacy Policy to better protect and inform you. As our products evolve we will keep you informed of the changes here.

Summary of changes to our Privacy Policy, effective July 8, 2026

These updates apply only to consumer accounts (Claude Free, Pro, and Max plans). They don't apply if you use Claude Team or Enterprise Plans, the Claude Developer Platform, or other services covered by our Commercial Terms or other agreements.

We encourage you to read the updated Privacy Policy in full, but we've summarized the key changes below:

Multi-step tasks and connected apps

Claude can increasingly carry out longer tasks and work with third-party apps and services. We've added details about the data involved when you use these features — what's shared with a third party when you connect a service, and what we receive in return when Claude completes tasks on your behalf.

Verification Data

To help keep our services safe and secure, we may ask you to confirm your age or identity. We describe what information this involves and how we handle it.

Study participation

We've added a description of the data we collect if you choose to take part in Anthropic research, such as studies, surveys, or interviews.

Additional information about our data practices

We've provided more detail about how we keep in touch with you and promote our services, including how we tailor recommendations that may be relevant to you. We've also added clarity around when data may be shared with third parties, and our legal bases we rely on when processing your data.

While our products have evolved, our commitments haven't: We don’t sell your data, Claude remains ad-free, and you can control whether your conversations are used to improve Anthropic’s AI models.

We have published a new Notice on Model Training to explain how our large language models are ‘trained’ and how personal data obtained from third party sources may be used as part of the training process.
