Immediately the sheriff is notified and a posse is sent in pursuit. The bandits escape into Mexico over the state line and leave behind an angry sheriff and heated mob. Returning to the town, taking the country road, they discover a runaway horse approaching them, with carriage harness dragging on the ground. They immediately speed up and find the Widow Barrett lying in the road, with the overturned carriage beside her. She is taken back to town and a doctor summoned. He tells the sheriff he must remain in his office in absolute quiet. After a few days of rest she recovers and returns to her home, accompanied by the sheriff. He falls in love with her and writes a letter to the county board stating "it would be impossible to be sheriff and run a ranch." This leads us to believe that the Widow Barrett and the sheriff are married. He loses a bandit but wins a wife. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
