One evening Mr. Screen is persuaded to join a couple of friends at a dinner party, after which they go to the club. While in the café, he decides to phone his wife an excuse, and while doing so, a lady takes the other 'phone and tells her husband that she is not coming home, as she is dining with a friend. Mrs. Screen overhears the lady 'phoning through the 'phone her husband is using and becomes suspicious that her hen-pecked husband is out with another woman. When he comes home with a couple of friends as a bodyguard very much inebriated, his wife meets them at the door with a poker reception and slams the door in her husband's face. He returns to the club to remain the night. The next day the K.I.A. Society come to Mrs. Screen's house for a meeting, and noticing the good looking maid, suggest to Mrs. Screen that she is entirely too pretty to be a maid, and recommend her dismissal. That same afternoon the maid is discharged and while she is going down the street she meets Mr. Screen and a friend on their way home. She tells them that she is "fired" and that Mrs. Screen is in an awful rage. The friend suggests that he disguise himself and apply for the position as maid so that he can make it easy for Mr. Screen. Everything is arranged and he applies for the position, and is accepted. That evening the new maid arrives. After her duties are explained to her, she retires to her room to unlock the trunk to allow Mr. Screen to get out, much the worse for the journey. Screen retires. Mrs. Screen is about to do the same, when she hears a man coughing. Suspecting burglars, she goes to the maid's room to assist her, but before entering, peeps through the keyhole, only to see her husband in bed with the new "maid." She 'phones for the police. They enter the room and find that it is a huge joke on Mrs. Screen. A reconciliation follows. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
