Jack writes Uncle John telling him that as he feared his marriage would not please him he had been keeping it a secret, but that now he is only too happy to be able to say that he has the dearest little wife in the world. Uncle telegraphs back that he is coming on immediately to make the young pair a visit. In his extremity, Jack prevails upon George, his best friend, to let him pass off Muriel, George's wife, as Mrs. Jack. Uncle is delighted with Muriel, and Jack is perfectly content, until his rich relative remarks that if only his nephew had a son and heir he would give him $50,000. The nephew manages to get the butler busy, and he goes out and borrows a baby. George, meanwhile, who has been palmed off as a boarder, is getting restless. It is something of a strain to have to see one's own wife willingly masquerading as the wife of one's best friend. So he contrives to put up a joke on Jack and Muriel. When Uncle is conducted to the supposed nursery to see the one precious infant, he is dumbfounded to find a roomful of babies. Then he begins to scent the joke, and the entire deception is unraveled.
