One day he comes in contact with a cattle rustling band and is persuaded to join them. He sees what he believes to be a fortune in a few months. It would mean so much to his little sister, complete education, better clothes. He pays nightly visits to the rustlers' camp and each time returns unseen. Finally the sheriff catches two of the band. Burt escapes but one of the captured men confesses. Burt is implicated and an order for his arrest is issued. That day he receives a letter from his sister saying she is coming to visit him, but when the sheriff tells him that he is "wanted" he knows it is all over for him. His sister would lose her love for him when she learns of it. He tells the sheriff this and exacts a promise from him not to tell her. Then there is but one thing left for him to do and he does it. When the smoke clears away Burl is cold in death. The sheriff and posse stand in awe and reverence over his lifeless body, as Ed, his pal, rushes on the scene. Next day Burt's sister arrives and Ed escorts her to his quarters. Replies to her questions regarding her brother are evaded, but finally she learns of his death. She is broken-hearted. Ed tells her how bravely he died. He had stood up against the cattle rustlers' hot fire only to fall mortally wounded. Ed offers her his love to make her happy and as she needs a friend, he is the one. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
