The patient has an objection to treatment on these lines and causes a disturbance whenever his friends attempt to apply it. At last, in desperation they insert an advertisement in the papers offering a reward of £500 to anybody who can give the injection. Polidor jumps at the opportunity, and, armed with a syringe the size of a garden squirt, makes his way to the earl's house. En route he tests the efficacy of the syringe on sundry people, with results which convince him of its strength-a donkey who is one of the patients, lashing out with his heels with a vigor which speaks highly of its increased nerve strength. Polidor is warmly welcomed, and given a seat at the dining table, but the sight of the syringe frightens the earl, and he takes to flight. Polidor follows, and in his haste he gives an injection to all whom he meets, but at last he overpowers the earl and gives him the dose. The results are all that could be desired both for the earl and for Polidor, who receives the promised reward. Written by The Bioscope - November 14, 1912 See less
