The day following an especially annoying night, a client of Price's expresses him two thousand dollars in currency, as "earnest money" on a contract. Price sends his clerk to bank the money, but the clerk arrives too late to make the deposit and Price places the currency in his office safe. The day's work done, Price, fearing to leave the money in the office, takes it home with him and places it in a wall-safe in the library. The Prices retire; Mrs. Price not a little worried because of the presence of the money in the house. The next morning Price goes to the safe but finds the money missing. Caught in the door of the safe Price finds a bit of lace. Instantly he suspects his wife has, in the course of her nightly "prowl," removed the money from the safe and hidden it elsewhere. Together they search the entire house, but to no avail. Price bethinks himself of a friend, one Professor Borel, who is an eminent neurologist. He calls upon the professor, explains the situation and receives the professor's assurance that the application of auto-suggestion will clear away all the difficulties. Having arrived at the Price home, Professor Borel requests Mrs. Price to retire to bed, just as she did the night before. Mrs. Price obliges and the professor induces hypnosis, then applies the suggestion. Mrs. Price rises from her bed, descends to the library, recovers the money from its hiding place, and replaces it in the wall safe. Professor Borel awakens his subject, who retires to resume her every day attire. Price thanks Professor Borel, then inquires concerning a cure for Mrs. Price's malady. The professor suggests a simple measure and takes his departure. That night, having acted upon the professor's suggestion. Price awaits developments. Mrs. Price starts to "prowl," but upon coming in contact with the professor's curative vehicle, awakens somewhat suddenly and loses no time in settling herself in bed again.
