Painfully introverted and intensely private, he is a voyeur by nature, routinely spying on his neighbors, hoping to see something. A collector of exotic art, he caps off his days of window gazing with nightly visits to a local go-go bar, where he watches (from a safe distance) a mesmerizing exotic dancer with whom he imagines he shares some unspoken connection. Meanwhile, William has been breaking into Sidney's apartment. Charming and successful, he secretly longs for escape. So, after stumbling upon a key to a stranger's apartment following a night of Scotch and poker, he succumbs to curiosity. Enchanted by the bizarre artifacts and otherworldly décor within, William, unknowingly the voyeur of a voyeur, returns to Sidney's apartment night after night, checking his identity at the door and basking in the glow of this unsuspecting person's world.
