His wife experiences this as an emotional earthquake and marriage comes under great pressure. Yet the mother decides to keep the family together. Especially when the man starts to openly coming out as a woman after the transsexual operation, difficult choices arise for the wife and the two sons. Although a formal divorce is necessary, since two women may not be married before the law, the family stays together. The film follows the family in the period from 1990 to 1993 in which both the mother and the two growing sons must constantly adjust their opinion about their father and their attitude in numerous controversial matters.
