Becoming angry at his indolence, she orders him up a ladder to wash a window. Disgusted at the futility of his efforts after he had dropped the soap on her and drenched her with water, she pulls him off the ladder. Out on the street he sees a pretty girl hand a coin to a blind man, waves at her and she smiles. With the "cook" holding the ladder, his wife climbs up to hang some clothes on a line. He walks away from the ladder to flirt with the girl, and his wife falls into the wash tub. As she arises from her tub, she sees her husband flirting with the girl, and calls to a policeman nearby. Together they start after the flirtatious husband. He passes an employment agency, goes in, is knocked over by a blow from a mop in the hands of a careless janitor. The janitor and the cook are sent to a candy store upon receipt of a call from the proprietor for an all-around man and a candy cook. "The cook" and the janitor interrupt the conduct of the business by their ignorance of the business, and nearly cause a riot when they unwittingly pull on a raveling from a young woman's skirt until the skirt is demolished and she faints at the sight of her uncovered lingerie. The irate wife and the policeman come on the scene at the opportune moment, capture the flirtatious husband and cart him off in a purloined play-wagon, leaving the candy store a dismantled wreck.
