The 2 women couldn't be more different; Naomi doesn't understand why - even months later, Ruth seems to not even try to move on and live, and asks her why she's only seen very few men, none of which she's asked to come over for dinner. Finally, Ruth agrees to invite David ([Peter Mark Richman). When David comes over, Ruth smiles, but every time Ruth sees Naomi seeing her smile, Ruth feigns a lack of interest. Naomi wants Ruth to find happiness, and encourages David to keep trying. When Naomi approaches Ruth, she tells her Tommy loved her, but he is gone, and Ruth needs to find love, so that she can live.
