The crook upon being informed by his lawyer that he doesn't have much of a defense, with the help of two other accomplices, first offer Trish a bribe to throw the case. When she balks, they kidnap her 7-year-old son to use as leverage against her. When the case goes to trial, something mysteriously goes wrong with key pieces of evidence. After threatening to pull Trish off the case, McCabe has Jake investigate and all evidence leads to Trish. Wondering why, Jake sets out to uncover the reason.
