Rik is terrified, and decides to flee to France. Jef and Ida immediately occupy his quarters. Rik is convinced a V1 bomb will hit the house. A soothsayeress told him so. Jef and Stavros are redecorating the new rooms of Nieke, but working together is far from easy. Pierre quits his job at the America hotel, and ends his relationship with Lili. Lili tries to win him back with tickets to the movies, but he refuses. That evening a V1 bomb hits the movie theatre. Pierre is convinced Lili must be one of the over 500 victims and desperately goes looking for her. When he can't find her, he reproaches himself for her death.
