He almost faints with joy and is on hand bright and early. In the course of the evening he enjoys himself immensely flirting with one of the pretty women guests, but worries greatly over the long delay before "eats." The butler is sent by the hostess to find out the trouble and returns with a biscuit in his eye implanted there by the cook. Some of the men guests attempt to interview the queen of the kitchen and get worse treatment. Then the hostess calls upon our hero, Brave Jack. He doesn't dare refuse, and when the cook catches sight of him, she sets him to work preparing dinner. The men are afraid to venture in and the women ween because they fear Jack is killing the cook. Finally all burst into the kitchen to find Jack in a "boy stood on the burning deck" pose. His description of what happened, in which he licked both a policeman and the cook, is received with loud cheers, and the women flock around showering hero worship upon him.
