Janet/Jan, age 16, feels that her parents, who own a real-estate agency, don't love her and that she was an unexpected, unwanted pregnancy as her mother gave birth to her at age 42. Her parents dote on their older daughter but seem to care little for Janet even when they find out that she has run away. Janet falls in love with a minor-league baseball player and tags along with him and his team on a road trip to Bakersfield. She is very jealous and an emotional wreck at times when she feels that her boyfriend does not pay attention to her. She checks in with her sister one night on the phone, who becomes concerned and hires clinical psychologist Steve Arizzio, who eventually tracks her down. Steve realizes that even Janet's parents have no concern for her whereabouts and understands why Janet craves attention and love from others. Eventually Janet's sister who adopts her--dropping her selfish fiancé along the way--allowing Janet to finally find someone who will love her, give her attention, and treat her with the respect she deserves. Steve Arizzio solves another missing Runaway case for this short-lived Quinn Martin production series that ran on NBC during 1978 and 1979. This series is not that bad, the concept is overall intriguing and if done correctly might even work on today's television format. Written by Anthony McWhorter See less
