Pretzel, the next-door neighbor, meets Molly and her mother, and the widow warns him that serious consequences will result if she ever catches him in their yard again. The next day, bitter enemies Pretzel and Mike indulge in a fight. Pretzel, getting the worst of it, flees. He is finally driven into the widow's parlor, where he hides in a box couch; the widow notifies the police. Meanwhile, a real burglar puts in an appearance, and in the ensuing melee, Pretzel escapes and the burglar hides in the couch.
