Katherine and Captain Anderson's argument comes to an abrupt end when they have to break bad news to crew member Charles. Linda steals food, claiming it's for an evening snack. Captain Anderson tells Charles that his wife has been injured in a car accident and is unconscious in hospital. Sandy and Peter argue about the drunken engagement announcement and she berates him for embarrassing her. But soon forgives him. There is no helicopter available to take Charles from the ship to the hospital where his wife is until later, which frustrates him. A passenger, Rachel Gibson, claims that her red handbag, containing an expensive ring, has been stolen on board. Charles' wife Jenny has died from her injuries, leaving him devastated. Captain Anderson apologises to Matt for interfering in his personal life and admits that he has other things on his mind that are making him irritable. Tony and Susan cause trouble for Katherine when they try to persuade Rachel Gibson to lodge an official complaint against Katherine for not acting promptly on her report of a missing handbag.
