Wanting to do something to help, they set up unauthorized peer counseling in the student lounge where they help resolve petty conflicts, support with homework, and provide a listening ear at the "Vent Station." However, they also discover that some of their peers are dealing with issues that student-counselors may not be equipped to handle. They don't want to betray any confidence, but they also don't know how to help. When the faculty and administration become aware of what's happening, they are understandably concerned. One administrator is ready to shut the whole thing down due to liability issues, and take punitive action against the students involved. But another teacher sees the real need these kids are filling, and takes it upon himself to get involved as the faculty supervisor. They take the operation online, so that they can support kids outside of their own school, as well. Written by Elizabeth Karsell Horne See less
