He gives her the locket found about her neck, containing the picture of a beautiful woman, and which he believes to be her mother. With Horace Blackwell's death, Dorothy is dispossessed of her home, and because of jealousy of her charm and beauty she is forced into the ranks of the unemployed. She, however, finds employment in a department store, but is accused of theft and brought before the proprietor, who questions her closely as to her history.
