Stephanie then arrives with the surprising news that the just learned that the Graingers are on Catalina Island with Eric and Sheila. The night at the Hillcroft Inn takes a shocking turn: Sheila informs Eric and Lauren that Scott has been hiding the truth about his condition and that he is dying. In a private moment, Scott tells Lauren his dying wish is that she never reveals the truth about Sheila. Lauren promises her husband that she won't. The paramedics arrive on the scene, but it is too late: Scott is already dead. Eric is surprised that Sheila seems to be touched by the death of a stranger nearly as much as Lauren.
