When a note arrived from the young lady asking Dick to call that evening, and in a postscript invited his chum, Tom, to call. Mr. Dick calmly cut off the postscript before showing it to his friend. However, as Dick strutted out of the room, Tom discovered the clipping on the floor. He was so quick to act that when Dick arrived, Tom was in the midst of a pleasant chat with Josie. Last, but not least, came modest Harry Brown, who, quite unlike the chums, who seemed determined to out-stay each other, withdrew. Nevertheless, by insisting that they join him in a card game, old man Rich soon sent them off to the club. Here Harry hit upon a plan to stop their everlasting wrangling and decide once and for all the man Josie really preferred. The boys were to feign suicide, while he hurried away for the girl, for, Harry assured them, the one she went to first would be the one she loved best. To the intense astonishment of the three men, Josie took but one glance at the supposed suicides, then fell weeping in to Harry's arms .That surprised but happy young gentleman led her triumphantly away, to the utter consternation of his crestfallen rivals.
