Mollie Girard, a pretty girl, is the ward of her uncle, John Girard, who is engaged illicitly as a counterfeiter. Mollie is unaware of this. Her presence embarrasses her criminal uncle and he does not treat her kindly. She becomes acquainted with Michael Ryan when he rescues her from the results of a runaway horse, which she is riding, and they fall in love. In the race to save Mollie, the policeman's horse, Sammy, is injured and the police surgeon condemns him to be sold. The counterfeiters buy him. Ryan discovers the counterfeiters for whose arrest a large reward is offered, and effects their capture after an exciting series of adventures. Through the intelligence of Sammy Mollie rescues Ryan, who has been made a prisoner by the counterfeiters. Then they journey happily upon the path of true love.
