Polidor doesn't know the uncle, and is told that he will recognize him by a large excrescence on the head. An amusing series of scenes show his efforts to identify the visitor at the station. The hat of every pedestrian is snatched off, and Polidor comes in for rough treatment. Eventually he finds a man seated on the curb outside a public-house with an undoubted excrescence on his head. Polidor carries him home on his shoulders, and he and Mrs. Polidor are feeding the helpless visitor when there is a knock, and the real uncle enters, who, seeing how matters stand, announces himself and then helps the counterfeit uncle off the premises.
