He arrives home, and immediately goes to bed to have a good sleep, previously taking the whole of the pills. Next morning his wife and servant are unable to wake him, and call in assistance to break open the bedroom door. They discover the little man fast asleep, and the wife thinking him dead, drops the lighted candle on the bed, which is soon in a blaze. They run for the firemen, who. quickly arrive, and drench the bed with water. The beams begin to fall upon the bed, still Tontolini, in spite of all the uproar, remains asleep. He is carried out of the ruins of his bedchamber to safety, and remains asleep until his mother arrives, whose voice awakens him at once, then some exciting scenes occur.
