He has given a celebrated artist an order for his lady's portrait, which he orders to be sent home. He also buys a charming hat. Unfortunately the painter and milliner meet on the way and indulge in a flirtation, while two mischievous workmen add a mustache to the lady's portrait and extract the hat, and place a battered one in its place. Tontolini arrives and prepares the lady for her presents. Her parents and many friends are also present, when Tontolini full of dignity presents the hat which is thrown out by the indignant lady. Tontolini at last unveils the portrait and when it is found to be such a caricature, he is thrown out of the house, and rolls down the steps like a barrel overthrowing everyone he comes in contact with.
