He's missing 50,000 euros, ten luxury watches, and cocaine. To help locate the thieving student, Zankl recruits Frederike Bader, a Berlin police officer still living in Passau under witness protection. What the two private investigators don't yet know is that Lina lies murdered in her 1979 VW Golf Cabriolet in a wooded area near Passau. The lovingly restored car had been a gift from an admirer: Xaver, the son of junkyard owner Alois Mayr. The gifted mechanic is hopelessly in love with Lina. A group of young Bavarian men on a beer hike stumble upon the convertible and the body. The money, watches, and cocaine are not found on the deceased. In the back seat of the car, forensic technicians discover a second bloodstain that cannot be linked to Lina. It belongs to a female student whose body was recovered from the Danube two years earlier. No perpetrator has yet been identified in the cold case. Former police officer Frederike Bader and Detective Ferdinand Zankl are investigating in direct competition with the Passau Criminal Investigation Department, whose new chief happens to be Frederike's former witness protection officer. Meanwhile, their daughter Mia applies for an internship at the Passau newspaper. She wants to follow in her missing father's footsteps. Written by ADR Das Erste See less
