Cathy complains to Julie that Jim and Anna can't understand why she's so upset that Tom apparently lied to her and led her on when he was secretly married to Marcy. At The Banner, Marcy confronts Steve over his desire to fire her, proposing instead that he hire her as his secretary and give her a trial work period. Bert and Carla wonder why Tom was so determined to uncover the informant who was ultimately responsible for his death along with Vinnie's shooting and Millie's kidnapping. Julie tells Cathy how Dave and Eileen threw her out of their home after finding her undressed at Jack's apartment. Cathy encourages Julie to ignore her folks and stick with Jack because in her own experience once a girl loses the man she loves, there won't be anyone to take his place. Impressed by Marcy's spunk, Steve agrees to hire her as his personal secretary, an act that pleases Viki. As she watches Viki and Steve leave for lunch together, Marcy triumphantly declares that Steve is set at The Banner and is unknowingly going take her along for the ride. Steve and Viki run into Bert and Carla at The Press Box for lunch. Carla shares with Bert her belief that every woman has one great love, and Viki's was Joe Riley. Believing each has the wrong opinion of the other, Viki suggests she and Steve make a real attempt to work together and get along with one another no matter what. Smiling, the two happily toast their new agreement. Written by Mark Faulkner See less
