The news of Tom's death cause Pat to collapse. After a reluctant Frank was forced to identify Pat as being at the murder scene, Sgt. Adams took Pat into police custody. Pat didn't recall seeing Tom, and Jim and Mary doubted Frank's identification. Jim phoned attorney Mitchell Dru to help Pat.
